The EGI Federation is an international e-Infrastructure set up to provide advanced computing and data analytics services for research and innovation. The EGI e-infrastructure is publicly funded and comprises hundreds of data centers and cloud providers spread across Europe and worldwide.
The annual EGI conference will be held - virtually - this autumn, from the 18th until the 21st of October.
Within this event, SODALITE consortium will host a workshop on October 19th at 16:00 within the Delivering Services and Solutions Session.
The workshop titled "Delivering Services and Solutions - Workshop: Orchestrating Data-intensive Applications on Federated Hybrid Infrastructures with the SODALITE Framework" will provide hands-on training on the SODALITE framework.
The first part will briefly introduce the Infrastructure as Code (IaC) approach and the IaC languages that the SODALITE uses. IaC is the process of managing and provisioning IT infrastructures such as storage and networks through machine-readable definition files. It is rapidly emerging the de facto approach for provisioning and managing IT infrastructure.
The second part of the tutorial will provide an overview of the SODALITE framework, focusing on its smart modeling environment (e.g., IDE and context-aware content-assistance services) and orchestration capabilities (e.g., deployment, monitoring, data management, and authentication/authorization).
The final phase of this tutorial, using two case studies, will demonstrate the design of a defect and error-free deployment model with ease using the SODALITE smart IDE, and the enactment of the designed model on Cloud (EGI and Openstack) and HPC clusters.
Join our speakers: Indika Priyantha Kumara Dewage (Tilburg University), Dragan Radolović (XLAB Research), Jesús Gorroñogoitia (ATOS), Zoe Vasileiou (Information Technologies Institute, Centre for Research and Technology Hellas), and Kamil Tokmakov (High-Performance Computing Center).
